Why Golden Eagles Baseball
Golden Eagles Baseball is an independent, competitive baseball organization in the KC Metro area, serving south and east Jackson County and Cass County, led by Coach Brett Mahurin.
We teach first. Learning how to play makes the game more fun. Here, we teach, we learn, we play better, and we have more fun.
A hitting approach built on efficiency. We emphasize alignment and movement to create efficiency and power: the most output for the least energy, in the shortest amount of time.
Fundamentals with athletic freedom. We believe strict adherence to proven fundamentals, balanced with athletic freedom, produces “baseball fun”: the experience of learning to play the game the right way, and turning both successes and failures into opportunities for growth.
How I analyze swings.
I don’t use sensors, sticks or scores. I use video and my eyes, because a swing is a whole-body movement and numbers on a screen can’t tell me why it works or doesn’t.
Every lesson starts with the swing at full speed. That’s how the hitter actually moves, and it’s where I see balance, rhythm and timing. Then I slow it down to look at the details: how the hips hinge, how the spine and pelvis work together, when the move starts, and whether the swing stays adjustable.
After each lesson I send a short video clip of what we worked on, so your player can see it and you can see the progress.
Apps that grade a swing score every hitter against one idea of the perfect swing. Natural movement doesn’t fit that mold, and neither does your player. My job is to help your player move better, not to chase a number.
